DIET CHEATING

Sometimes it feels great to CHEAT. You know…to just “be human” now and then.⠀⠀
⠀⠀Cheating itself isn’t a mistake, we’re human. ACTUALLY… It can make your diet in a whole more enjoyable and improve long term compliance and improving your long-term results.⠀
⠀⠀
How you cheat matters. Here are the biggest mistakes I see people make

  1. Having too many cheat meals.⠀⠀ Cheating involves overeating so doing it too frequently can erase much if not all of the calorie deficit required for sustained fat loss.⠀
    ⠀⠀
2️. Eating too much in a cheat meal.⠀
    ⠀⠀
Depending on your food choices, it can be surprisingly easy to eat a few thousand calories in one go. Especially if you’re eating out.

3️. Indulging in cheat days, not meals.⠀
⠀⠀
Many people like to believe that being “good” during the week allows them to go buck wild on the weekends without consequences. That’s not what happens.⠀⠀
⠀⠀If you can go a few thousand calories into the hole in just one trip to your favorite restaurant, you can only imagine just how deep you can dig your dietary grave in a couple of days.

4️. Eating too much dietary fat.⠀
⠀⠀
When overfeeding, dietary fat is more easily stored as body fat compared to carbohydrate or protein.

Try to favor carbs over fats when cheating and you’ll gain less fat as a result.
⠀⠀
5️. Drinking too much alcohol.⠀
⠀⠀
Alcohol blocks fat oxidation, which in turn accelerates the rate at which dietary fat you’ve eaten is stored as body fat.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
In short, it’s not the calories from alcohol that can make you fat, but all the crap that you eat with it, which is hard to resist when you’re drunk.

bottom line: Cheating incorrectly is one of the major reasons so many people “inexplicably” can’t lose weight “no matter what they do” with their diets.
