Whenever I see other personal trainers arguing about the best way to lose weight, this often comes to mind. If you want to completely optimize body composition, your diet is going to be higher protein and likely it will have more animal products (although some debate there). If you’re going to optimize longevity, you’re not going to focus as much on protein… and the protein you consume will be more likely from plants.
I try to straddle this line myself.
If you have type 2 diabetes, the diet may look different too! A lower carb approach may be what suits you to optimize glycemia.
This is why goals and preferences etc need to be taken into account and not just blanket diet plans.
